Tired of the Tingling or Numbness in Your Hands?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of those painful, annoying conditions that can wreak havoc on your daily life. Oftentimes, our patients come in with tingling and numbness in their hands and have started dropping things because of weakened grip strength. The bad news is it is an incredibly frustrating condition to deal with. The good news is we’ve treated carpal tunnel syndrome in Waco for over 30 years, and of the patients who completed treatment with us, very few ended up having surgery. We’d love the chance to see if we can help you too.“After seeing many other doctors and still not getting better, I made an appointment at Allied. Best decision I ever made. I wish I had started at this clinic.”
What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and How Do We Treat It?
There’s a little tunnel in your wrist where the median nerve goes through. If this tunnel is compressed, it can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, which comes with tingling, numbness, pain and decreased grip strength.
If you come into our clinic with symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome in Waco, we will first do a series of tests to make sure we’re treating the right condition.
One test we do is manually tapping on the median nerve to see if it results in shooting pain into your palm and fingers; that can be a sign of carpal tunnel syndrome.
Another test we do is to have you press the backs of your hands together with your wrists flexed to see if it results in tingling or numbness in your thumb, index and middle fingers.
If we’ve done the tests and the signs point toward carpal tunnel syndrome, we will treat it with one or more of the following services:
- Stretching the ligament over the carpal tunnel to relieve pressure on the median nerve.
- Performing chiropractic adjustments on the wrist to help create more space around the nerve and support healing.
- Fitting you with a brace, which helps keep your wrist in a neutral position, reducing pressure on the median nerve.
If you’re still experiencing carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms after the initial treatments, we may recommend the following advanced options:
- PiezoWave Therapy, which creates acoustic pressure waves to trigger the body’s own internal healing response for tissue repair at the wrist.
- Class IV Laser Therapy, which uses high-powered infrared light to stimulate cellular repair in the wrist tissue and reduce inflammation.
- Regenerative Medicine, including stem cell therapy and PRP therapy, which can support long-term healing of damaged tissue.
